Back in the 90’s Richard Butler covered Nick Drakes track Pink Moon with REM’s Pete Buck (and also ex-Furs Knox Chandler). Here’s a superb documentary on Nick, RIP legend.

Pretty @ the Hard Rock

June 6th, 2013

Great audience recording of The Furs classic track “Pretty in Pink” live from the Hard Rock Cafe, Las Vegas. The Furs are now a few nights into their mammoth 40 night US tour. As well as the excellent new track Little Miss World they’ve added a few early tracks from their debut LP - one of which I don’t think has been played live since about 1981!

A short pre-tour interview with founder member bass player Tim Butler can be found on the KSSI 102.7 Irock website. While not naming tracks he suggests that this tour will have a couple of new songs and also some of the more “obscure” tracks from the Furs back catalogue. Interview can be found here

Fire at Keaton’s Grill

May 24th, 2013

You never know what will crop up on the web. Here’s is video of Elvis Costello, The Furs Richard Butler & Blondie’s Debbie Harry performing songs from Roy Nathanson’s Fire at Keaton’s Bar & Grill. I think this was performed one night only in NYC back in the year 2000. Amazing stuff!

Wiki’s entry:

“The Fire at Keaton’s Bar & Grill, was Nathanson’s CD released under his own name by Six Degrees Records in March 2000. It is a story of a fire in a mythical bar and features performances by many of the collaborators he has worked with in his career, adding Charles Earland to Elvis Costello and Debbie Harry. It has been performed at Arts at St. Ann’s Warehouse in New York City and at the Royal Festival Hall in London”
